How to Remove "New Friends" Notices on Facebook

Facebook made some changes a couple of days ago to their news feed which has left folks seeing a lot of unwanted messages.  One of these messages relates to folks accepting friend requests.  The message looks like this:

"John Smith and Jane Doe are now friends".

If you don't want to see these messages, you can easily change this. To REMOVE the new friends notices from the news feed:
  1. REST YOUR MOUSE (Don't Click) SETTINGS  on the top right blue bar on your facebook page and then click on PRIVACY SETTINGS
  2. Then click the link that reads, NEWS FEED & WALL
  3. Uncheck 'Add a friend'.
The steps above will take care of the one notice.
